# GSOC 2025 : Coding Period Starts Today ( June 02 )!

Hello Geeks,

We are excited at accnounce that GSoC 2025 coding period officially starts today, June 02nd! 🎉

First, we want to thank all of you for your active participation during the community bonding period. We hope you all have had productive conversations with your mentors, set up your weekly meetings, and established your preferred methods of communication.  
Note that the coding period runs from today until **November 17th (MAX)** for large-sized projects.

**Here are a few impontant things required during the coding period:**

- Create the issue on github for your project so that it can be added to the [GSOC 2025](https://github.com/orgs/I-TECH-UW/projects/) github prject where will be tracking all the PRs related yo your project [Example](https://github.com/DIGI-UW/OpenELIS-Global-2/issues/1988) | [Thread Example](https://talk.openelis-global.org/t/gsoc-2025-rewrite-test-management-components-pages-from-jsp-to-reactjs/1545)
- You will be needed to give weekly updates about your project on the GSoC project thread you created
- You will need to create smalll sized PRs to make it easier for reviers instead of creating Big Prs with hudge changes at ago
- Youll need to communicate with your mentor atleast once a week
- Yoll need to join the community [dev call](https://talk.openelis-global.org/t/devdiscussion-break-happening-weekly-every-thursday-at-1700-gmt/242) to catchup with the rest of the devs

**Next Impontant GSoC 2025 timeline,**

- July 18 - 18:00 UTC **Midterm evaluation deadline (standard coding period)**
