Back ground in IT
My journey into IT began with self-taught programming in Java and Python before enrolling in a Software Engineering program at Bugema University,Since 2023, I have been an active contributor to the OpenELIS Global community, gaining hands-on experience with Java, Spring, PostgreSQL, and integration testing. Beyond technical contributions, I have taken on a community leadership role, onboarding new contributors, facilitating weekly developer calls, and helping resolve blockers for other developers.
My passion for contribution to Healthcare Systems, has influenced my background through a combination of academic studies, open-source contributions, and self-directed learning.
How you joined OpenELIS community
I joined openelis through OpenMRSWhat you mainly do around the community
Backend Development Writing backend code including REST APIs and backend services using Java and Spring within the OpenELIS codebase.Testing Writing and improving backend tests, including integration tests, to increase test coverage across the project.
Documentation Creating and maintaining documentation to support developers and improve understanding of the codebase.
Community Leadership Leading weekly community calls, onboarding new contributors, and answering implementation questions to support the growth and smooth running of the community.
