Hello mentors,

I am Abdulrosheed Lawal, a third-year student at the National Open University of Nigeria, and I am excited to contribute to this project, “Improve Integration Tests Coverage.” With my strong background in C# and .NET development, I have extensive experience writing unit and integration tests using xUnit, so transitioning to JUnit for Java will be a smooth process for me.
This project aims to increase the test coverage of the backend service layer to at least 60%, ensuring better reliability and stability. I have successfully set up the project on my system and have started reviewing the existing tests to understand the current structure and identify areas that need improvement. My approach involves analyzing the current test coverage, identifying gaps, implementing missing integration tests, and ensuring best practices such as structured test scenarios and database interaction validation.
I look forward to contributing my expertise, collaborating with the team, and helping achieve the project’s goals.

Subject: Introduction – Aspiring GSoC 2025 Contributor

Hello OpenELIS Community,

I’m Deepesh, a passionate open-source enthusiast and aspiring contributor for GSoC 2025. I have a strong background in Java, JavaScript, React, and am particularly interested in enhancing OpenELIS’s reporting and data management capabilities.

I recently came across the project idea for a robust reporting framework and also enhancing the UI, and I’m excited about the opportunity to contribute. I believe this feature and enhancement will greatly improve user experience by enabling ad-hoc patient report generation, directly from the UI. improving the help box will also enhance user experinece I’d love to dive deeper into the project’s technical aspects, discuss possible implementation approaches, and get feedback from the community.

I have experience working with REST APIs, frontend frameworks like React, and I’m eager to apply my skills while learning from experienced contributors. I’ve already started exploring OpenELIS, and I look forward to collaborating with mentors and fellow developers.

Any guidance on getting started, reviewing relevant documentation, or first issues to tackle would be highly appreciated!

Looking forward to contributing and growing with OpenELIS! :rocket:

Best regards,
Deepesh

Hello OpenELIS Community,

I am Ajinkya Shivpure, a Computer Science student at Punjab Engineering College Chandigarh, specializing in Data Science. While my coursework includes Machine Learning and Data Science, I have focused extensively on backend development, scalable architectures, and microservices.

I have a strong background in Java, Spring Boot, and Docker, with hands-on experience in event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka. Over time, I have built multiple microservices-based applications, focusing on scalability, fault tolerance, and efficiency. My projects include real-time fraud detection, e-commerce platforms, and logging systems—all leveraging Spring Boot, Kafka, and containerized environments.

I am new to open-source contributions, but I am highly motivated to learn and grow. I have started exploring OpenELIS, diving into its architecture and understanding how different components interact. OpenELIS caught my attention because of its impact on healthcare and laboratory systems, and I am eager to contribute. Given my experience in Java and Spring, I would love to explore areas such as:

  • Enhancing API integrations and improving the interoperability of OpenELIS with other systems.
  • Refactoring monolithic components into microservices, if relevant, to improve scalability.
  • Improving deployment configurations with Docker to streamline the setup.
  • Contributing to documentation to make onboarding easier for new developers.

I am excited to collaborate with this community and learn from experienced contributors. Looking forward to discussions, guidance, and meaningful contributions!

Best regards,
Ajinkya Shivpure
