Hey everyone! I am Soma. I am currently a grad student studying computer science at New York University. I have previously contributed to Open Source through MLH Fellowship and I had an amazing experience there.
It is because of the amount of skills that I developed during my time at MLH (soft skills like communication, team work, etc and hard skills like using git to its fullest, Typescript and React) that I am venturing back into this space after 4 years!
I have 2+ years working as a backend developer in the logistics and supply chain industry.
During my time I also worked extensively on front end projects involving React, Typescript, Javascript and Tailwind.
My main experience in backend lies mostly in Java, Springboot and Python (Flask, OpenAPI, FastAPI)
I also handled devops work during my time as a backend dev so I can definitely use Kubernetes to scale your infra for you using HPA if required!
I am glad to be a part of an active community like this and am looking forward to making contributions to OpenElis Global!

I am Yousof, currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering in AIUB. I am currently in my second year of University. I am very Interested in learning technologies . Currently I am learning React, JavaScript , TypeScript and Spring Boot. I have a good foundation on java, JavaScript ,C and C++. I like problem solving and building new things. I have contributed in opensource in hacktoberFest-2025 and successfully submitted my Next-Js full stack web application as the team-leader and web-developer in Nasa Space Apps Challenge-2025 from Dhaka region. I am now looking into Joplin repository which aligns with my skill-sets and my interest.

My name is Kavya, and I am a second-year student aspiring to contribute to GSoC 2026. I have a strong interest in health-tech and open-source.
Technical Profile:
Backend: Java (OOP), Spring Boot, and REST API development.
Testing & Database: JUnit, Mockito, PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
DevOps/Tools: Docker (for environment setup) and Git/GitHub.
My Progress So Far: I have successfully set up the OpenELIS Global environment via Docker and just submitted my first Pull Request: Fix #3168: Mock AnalyzerQueryService #3196. This PR resolves the SocketTimeoutException by properly mocking the service layer. I’m eager for any feedback to improve it!
GSoC 2026 Interest: I am highly interested in the ‘Improve Integration Tests Coverage’ project. I’ve been exploring the codebase’s use of JaCoCo and am excited about strengthening system reliability through robust service and controller layer tests.

Thanks @junaid! I managed to get it running via Docker without too much trouble. If you ran into specific hurdles during your local setup, I’d love to hear about them so I can watch out for them in the future.
Excited to contribute alongside you! I’ve also just submitted a PR for #3168 to help with the integration test mocking, so I’m looking forward to diving deeper into the codebase.

Hi! I’m Gopika, a fourth year Computer Science student from Trivandrum, Kerala, currently in my eighth semester. I’ve been programming for a few years now and Java is where I’m most comfortable, though I’ve also worked with JavaScript, React, and Node.js on the side. Most of my serious backend experience comes from a Linux Foundation mentorship programme where I spent around five months contributing to a distributed Java codebase, working on things like security patches, fuzzing, static analysis, and CI/CD integration. Over time I ended up reviewing other contributors’ pull requests too, which was a great experience. I’ve also built a few personal projects along the way ranging from a proxy caching server in Java to some React and JavaScript projects. I’m genuinely excited to be applying for GSoC this year and I’m really looking forward to being part of the OpenELIS community and contributing something meaningful.

Hi! I’m Shivam, a B.Tech student from DTU who somehow ended up loving both physics and debugging code at 2 AM. I’m not from a hardcore CS background, but that hasn’t really stopped me from diving deep into C++, DSA, and backend concepts.
I’ve worked on a bunch of projects that reflect my curiosity-driven approach. One of them is Emotiva - Where Every Mood Matters, an emotion-aware multilingual chatbot built for a hackathon, where I explored how tech can actually understand users (or at least try to 
). I’ve also been working on EcoShala, a gamified sustainability platform that mixes real-world eco activities with tech think planting trees + earning points + AI features like plant disease detection and trash-to-treasure ideas.
On the technical side, I enjoy solving problems using C++ and understanding things like networking concepts (yes, even deep packet inspection caught my interest 
). I’ve also explored building scalable ideas like image-based search tools and worked on optimizing projects for real-world deployment.
I’m really excited about GSoC because open source feels like the perfect place to learn fast, build meaningful stuff, and collaborate with people way smarter than me. Looking forward to contributing, learning, and probably breaking things before fixing them
