Welcome! Please introduce yourself

Hello everyone! My name is Saikiran, and I’m a student currently learning Java backend development with Spring Boot and React. I’m interested in contributing to OpenELIS to better understand real-world backend systems and open-source development workflows.

I’m currently exploring the project setup and codebase, and I’m excited to learn and contribute gradually.

Also, is there any community platform like Discord, Slack, mailing list, or discussion channel where contributors usually communicate? I would love to join.

Thank you!

Hello everyone, am Kalyango Timothy, I am both a Biomedical Scientist and a Computer Scientist from Makerere University Kampala, Uganda. I am grateful to be here and work with you.

Hi everyone! :waving_hand:

I’m Pratyay, a Computer Science student from India with a strong interest in full-stack software development, particularly backend development using Java and Spring Boot, while also enjoying building modern web applications with React and TypeScript.

I’ve been working with Java, Spring Boot, React, TypeScript, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, Docker, Kafka, Redis, and GitHub Actions through my personal, academic, and open-source projects. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been contributing to the OpenELIS Global project by working on issues and submitting pull requests, and I’ve really enjoyed getting familiar with the codebase and contribution workflow.

What excites me most about OpenELIS is its mission of providing open-source laboratory information systems that support healthcare around the world. It’s inspiring to contribute to a project where software can make a meaningful real-world impact.

I’m looking forward to learning from the community, collaborating with everyone, and continuing to contribute to OpenELIS Global. Happy to be here!

Hi everyone! :waving_hand:

I’m Joseph Kagimu, a frontend developer and open-source enthusiast from Uganda.

I’ve been an active contributor to OpenMRS , now working primarily on the frontend — React, TypeScript, Carbon Design System and the OpenMRS microfrontend ecosystem. Through my work with OpenMRS, I’ve come to appreciate how OpenELIS integrates with OpenMRS via FHIR to power laboratory workflows, and that sparked my interest in contributing directly to OpenELIS Global.

What I’m looking for:

  • Good first issues to get familiar with the OpenELIS-Global-2 codebase

  • Guidance from maintainers on contribution conventions and workflows

I’ve already set up the dev environment and I’m excited to dive in. Looking forward to learning from this community and contributing! , happy to meet you .
